Behind The Scenes
with Señor
Q Y Su Nuevo Son
Article By Emma Keilby
October 15, 2008
Two years ago a group of friends decided to
get together and jam, not knowing their friendship and passion for music would
turn them into the unique band they are today. Señor Q y su Nuevo Son is a local
Tucson band that plays a Cuban form of salsa called
“son”.
Señor Q began as a quartet in 2006 and now includes six men, but they invite
others to join when they can. They formed their group with the idea of keeping
the roots of Cuban music alive, all while helping to promote salsa music
throughout
Arizona.
Each member of the group plays a different instrument that contributes to their
Cuban flavor of salsa music. Members of the band include brothers Manny and
Danny Brito, Steve Morales, Richard Ferraz-Sullivan, Aaron Szabo and Rico
Quintero.
